Inner-Outer — Feb 23, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum
In looking at prayer there are several components we could look at. This morning we will be looking at two aspects of prayer when we ask something of God: Intercession and Petition. Intercession is when ask our intercede on the behalf of another. Petition is when we ask for ourselves. Jesus gave us the best model of praying for ourselves in the Lord's prayer.

Clout: Do You Have It? — Feb 16, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

If we understand what Jesus has done for us it should cause us to stand in awe of Him. To see that he is the right person as our great high priest. That he has the right past, facing every temptation we have. We will see he has opened for us the right place.

Jesus’ Name…. — Feb 9, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

When we think about praying in Jesus Name it stirs up some really big possibilities in us. It says to ask for anything in his name what does that mean? First we will need to look at what it does not mean. Then we will be able to look and understand what it truly does mean. It means we pray in His authority, our prayers should represent Him, and if the prayer is answered it should bring Him glory.

Following Hard — Feb 2, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum
In our lives we all pursue something! There are times that we are aware of what our pursuits are and there are times we are unaware of them. In Psalm 63 we see what it is we are to be pursuing, God! He needs to be our ultimate desire. Also in the Psalm we see that it is in our times of worship that we catch a glimpse of him that is what helps motivate our pursuit.

20/14 — Jan 26, 2014

Speaker: Darren Kloepper

With all the debates and arguments today concerning what is right and what is wrong, Christ-followers need a perspective that responses appropriately to our culture. The tension in the air today may cause some believers to become uninvolved spectators or unloving judges. However, the story in John 9 offers a third way. Here Jesus heals a blind man and what results is a testimony that none can refute and a life that all should mimic.

My Story—Subtraction & Division — Jan 19, 2014

Speaker: Jerry Flueckiger
Paul reminds the Corinthian church that they should be beyond baby food. The church needs to grow to handle adult food. If there is not growth, divisions and separations develop. First Mennonite Church has much good going on, but when we try to make the church my/our church and the focus isn't on God, bad things happen. With God focus for worship and service, the church will mature and grow.

Our Story - Multiplication — Jan 12, 2014

Speaker: Jerry Flueckiger
The church is called to multiply and grow which will happen if it follows God's plan: trust in God and Love one another. The church must practice what it preaches--loving the unloved and even the unlovable. The church needs to reconnect with its mission--believe and trust God and love as God has loved us--even to death if necessary.

His Story—Addition — Jan 5, 2014

Speaker: Jerry Flueckiger
When the need has been there, God has added what was needed. In the case of Moses God added Aaron to speak for him. With Jonah God used fish to Fed-Ex Jonah to Nineveh. When we needed salvation, God added Jesus. Jesus defies description as man/divine in same body and is necessary if God is to add men to His kingdom. God + Jesus + man = salvation

Not The End — Dec 29, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

Faith vs. & Works — Dec 22, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

Book of Joy — Dec 15, 2013

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum

Paul in the book of Philippians talks about joy 6 times, rejoice 8 times, and being glad 3 times. With such an emphasis on joy it sounds like someone on vacation. Yet Paul was in chains at the time of the writing. In the book of Philippians we see that we can have joy in this life, that comes from joy in service, which all come from a joy in the Lord.

A Complete Gospel — Dec 8, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

Many times we confuse our salvation with the gospel. Our salvation is and intended consequence of the gospel. In 1 Cor 15 Paul points to the gospel, tells us what happened, and what will happen.

Images of the Church — Dec 1, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

In 1 Corinthians 3 Paul gives us very valuable images of the church and what that means for us. He uses familial term brother and that is what the church is. Like an earthly family, our desire is that all the members grow to maturity. He also uses the image of a field and the desire is that we bear fruit for the kingdom. And finally he uses the image of a Temple and he desires quality.

Don’t Quit — Nov 24, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

In Acts 18 Paul moves from Athens to Corinth and finds stiff opposition to his efforts in the city. When we find ourselves being opposed in different ways that is when we need to be pushing in even more to Him and He will assure us of the way to go. We see Paul doing this in his desire to always be in the center of God's will.

Meaning of the Resurrection — Nov 17, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

Even though it is not Easter we still need to go back to some foundational understandings of our faith, namely the resurrection. We need to reflect upon the truth of this event. It is an event which should bring us rejoicing and we need to respond to it.

Mission Festival — Nov 10, 2013

Speaker: EC

God’s Kingdom — Nov 3, 2013

Speaker: KT

The Difference Maker — Oct 27, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

In Luke 5 we are looking at a couple of parallel stories from last week. We are focusing in on the difference an encounter with the Lord makes. It takes us from failure to success, from sickness to health, and from guilt to forgiveness.

He Is Here — Oct 20, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

Mark introduces us to Jesus in his first chapter. He lays out Jesus' identity not leaving much to the imagination of who he is. He then points to Jesus's authority over his disciples, in his teaching, and over demons to back up his identity. He then shows us the compassion of Jesus and how His touch brings healing.

Who Is Greatest? — Oct 13, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

Jesus confronts his disciples in Matthew 18 on the grounds of their personal interactions with each other. He points to their actions and how their striving for the prominent position will harm a young one. He then turns his attention to our reactions of others actions. Are we forthright to go to each other when we have an issue?

Wanted: Disciples — Oct 6, 2013

Speaker: Jerry Flueckiger

God is still looking for disciple and He doesn't need just perfect people.  The early disciples were not alike, and God used their strengths and weaknesses.  We have instructions to cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, and cast out demons--more than ushering or singing or teaching or preaching or praying.  Let's become a disciple making congregation for the Lord.

My Way or Yahweh — Sep 29, 2013

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum
In the book of Jonah we see a prophet who declares he fears the Lord, yet he does his own thing. When the word comes to him to go to Nineveh he runs the other direction. It takes a storm and a big fish for him to return to the Lord. In returning God once again calls him to Nineveh and Jonah resents what it is God does in the city.

Overcoming Indifference — Sep 22, 2013

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum

Joel 2

The book of Joel the prophet is trying to wake up Judah. They had been falling into spiritual indifference and apathy. Joel is a very appropriate message for the church in America today. God is very concerned about spiritual indifference. He desires that we wake up from it and turn to Him with all of our hearts. In Joel, God gives some commands for the people he tells them to sound the trumpet, he tells them to return to Him, and calls them to repentance by the rending of their hearts and not garments. If we would respond to his commands we receive his comfort.

Raising a Wise One — Sep 15, 2013

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum

Daniel 1:1-8

In Daniel we see he was sent off to a Babylonian boarding school to be indoctrinated into Babylonian Culture and yet was able to stand in the midst of it. It was because of his family and friends that he could stand up to temptation..

Consider Sodom — Sep 8, 2013

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum

Ezekiel 16:44-52

Too often we just look to the sexual sins of Sodom. While those sins really did exist in Sodom, but we need to find what is it that leads to this kind of life and culture.  According to Ezekiel 16 it was their arrogance, affluence, and abandonment that led to such a debase society.

A Watchman — Sep 1, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

God called Ezekiel to be a watchman. This call had him waiting and listening to the Lord. When he received something from the Lord he was called to sound the alarm to warn the people of danger. This danger could inside or outside of the community of faith. God was then going to hold him accountable to whether he did what the Lord told him to do.

Mercy in Judgement — Aug 25, 2013

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum

So often we read about the judgments of the Old Testament and we don't like this aspect of the Old Covenant. In Jeremiah we see that even when God is declaring judgment upon his people he is always extending mercy. We see this mercy in the fact that God sends Jeremiah with his message, just as he sends his church today. He sent Jeremiah with His word. He also sent Jeremiah again and again.

Be Influencers — Aug 18, 2013

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum

Jeremiah was in a tight spot: he was called to speak to a nation that did not want to hear from him. He actually found himself in hot water with the culture many times. In response he cried out to God, being very honest at first but then started to blame God for his situation. God calls out to Jeremiah telling him to repent of this false accusation and challenges him to go to the people to influence them instead of being influenced by the people.

Christ Concealed — Aug 11, 2013

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum

In Isaiah 53 we see one of the most powerful prophecies given about the coming Messiah. We see the extent of his suffering and what it accomplished. This chapter has been titled the suffering servant, so we will look at the servant hood of Jesus, His sacrifice, as well as his splendor.

Whoa!  There are Woes — Aug 4, 2013

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum

In Isaiah 5 we see a number of woes listed. In verse 20 we see woe to those who call evil good and good evil. We are living in a day when we get it confused. We need to remember that God is the one who determines what is good even though man desires to be the one who determines this. Whnever we do this God declares his woes!

Challenge of Life — Jul 28, 2013

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum

Solomon in Ecclesiastes points to things that he pursued that he discovers as meaningless. He tested life through enjoyment and employment. He grew to hate life because of the meaninglessness of his wisdom and his wealth. He then applied his wisdom and he accepted life in the fact that there is nothing better than contentment with God.

Wisdom or Folly — Jul 21, 2013

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum

Proverbs spends a lot of time comparing Wisdom and Folly. Here in Proverbs 9 we see the differences between the two. Wisdom shows diligence is building a house and folly is undisciplined. Wisdom prepares a meal while folly tells about stealing her food. Wisdom leads to life while folly to death.

Unshaken — Jul 7, 2013

Speaker: Darren Kloepper

We all struggle with fear of some type, yet one of the most repeated commands in the Bible is "Do not fear". Evidently, God knew that we would struggle here and provided Psalm 112 with a clue to overcome our fears. Pastor Darren teaches us how putting away our fears may require trust, but that the process might be more simple than we thought.

In the Lord — Jun 30, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

Psalm 84, a Psalm of praise, shows us the longing of a worshipper of God to make the pilgrimage to the Temple. The one whose delight, strength, and trust is in the Lord.

Cleanse Me — Jun 23, 2013

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum

Cleanse me! In Psalm 51 we see the repentant prayer of David after being confronted with his sin. His cry was Cleanse me! Restore me! and Use Me!. Each of these came from a heart longing to be back in the presence of God almighty.

Blessings x 3 — Jun 16, 2013

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum

In Psalms chapter 1 we see a Psalm that lays out some direction for life. In it we see the person who receives a blessing from God, the person who is a blessing, and the person who is in desperate need of a blessing.

His Direction — May 26, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

We always hear the question "does God direct things in life?" In the story of the Israelites returning to the promised land after exile there is no question they were released by God's providence. They returned to the promised land by that same providence and started to rebuild the temple in the same way.

Listening to Which One? — May 19, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum
In life many times there are times that we only hear the voices that we want to hear. When our ears are tuned to that we won't be able to hear what we need to hear. We truly need to be able to know the difference between the two.

Hope For a Nation — May 12, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

In 2 Chronicles 6 we have Solomon's prayer at the dedication of the Temple. He had a formula for his prayer: the people fall into sin, then they repent, then they hear from heaven. God's response did not follow Solomon's formula--His response was not when but If.  If His people would behave in a certain way then He would respond. So we will look at the Who, the What and the Then of 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Turning Back — May 5, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

We see in the story of King Josiah a youth who had his heart turned towards God and was seeking Him. Devotion to Go led to a discovery of God's word as the Temple was being renovated. This discovery led to a deliverance from things that are contrary to God in his own life, in the corporate community, and then the culture.

H2O — Apr 28, 2013

Speaker: Jerry Flueckiger

Parting of the Ways — Apr 21, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

In the story of King Ahaziah we see one that in times of trouble he sought direction from a bad source. We have to ask ourselves: are we the same? Do we go to other places rather than God for our direction? Every choice we make is a choosing of which side of the divide we are going to be on.

Ambition—Good or Evil? — Apr 14, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

In the story of Adonijah we see someone who was very ambitious for power and prestige, but it was a counterfeit ambition. Ambition is good if it seeks to bring glory to God and good to man. When we operate with a counterfeit ambition we will reap the consequences, especially if we have a careless attitude about it.

A Royal Mess — Apr 7, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

In 2 Samuel 11 we see David being in a place he should not be and it leads the conceiving of sin, to the committing of sin, the covering of sin, and the confession of sin.

Good Friday Service — Mar 29, 2013

Speaker: Service of Shadows

A Living Hope — Mar 31, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum
On Easter morning we look at the fact we have a living hope, because we have a living savior, which in turn makes us living followers. It is all rooted in the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

Confusion of a Culture — Mar 24, 2013

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum
We see at the end of Judges a culture that walked away from the Lord and His expectations. This decline of a culture begins in the family and the breakdown of Godly homes. We see then that it affects the ministers and their ministry. From their it degrades all of society.

Unlikely Ally — Mar 17, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

Joshua has taken over for Moses and sends spies into Jericho and while there find an unlikely ally who shows courageous faith, confident faith, concerned faith, and a covenant faith.

Covenant Renewal — Mar 10, 2013

Speaker: Darren Kloepper

Reading Old Testament laws can sound very confusing to modern day ears. However, we can successfully navigate this section of Scripture when we interpret it through the lens of Old Testament culture and the fulfillment of the new covenant.

He Is God — Mar 3, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum
Moses is giving his farewell address to the nation of Israel and he is reminding them of some of God's characteristics and how we should respond to Him. We see that God speaks so we should hear Him, He is holy so fear Him, He is wise so learn from Him, and He alone is God so worship Him

Blessings and Curses — Feb 24, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum
Balaam was asked to curse the people of Israel, but God called him to obedience. When we start to walk in disobedience thought God will put roadblocks in our path. If we do not recognize the roadblocks as from God we will blame others for them. Yet God will continue to try to get your attention and get us to recognize we need to change direction.

A Dedicated People — Feb 17, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum
In Numbers 5-7 we see God calling the people of Israel to be his people. This is reflected by bing a clean people, a separated people, a blessed people, and a generous people.
